Baby’s story began at an afternoon pool party, when his future human dad heard a tiny cry coming from somewhere in the yard.
He followed the sound until he pinpointed it deep inside a woodpile. He began removing the wood, one piece at a time, following the meows until he uncovered the tiniest black-and-white kitten curled up and all alone.

The kitten’s future human mama—though she didn’t know it yet—was still in the pool when her partner called her over to see what he had found. She knew herself well.
“Nope! If I see him, I’ll take him—and we don’t need any more animals!”
So, naturally, he brought the kitten straight to her.
She took one look.
Spoiler alert: That wee kitten was coming home with them.

They washed him, named him Baby—and then listened to him cry around the clock for two solid weeks. Like a hungry baby bird, he made sure no one forgot for a moment that there was a very small, very vocal new arrival in the house.
Then Nanook, the family’s Great Pyrenees, took Baby under his very large, very fluffy wing. With Nanook’s warm, steady presence beside him, the constant crying finally stopped. The kitten who had called so desperately from inside the woodpile could finally rest.
Baby has since grown into a strong-willed leader who is very, very attached to his human mama—and, ahem, perhaps a bit possessive of her.
We get it, Baby. You may have been found alone in a woodpile, but you’ll never be alone again.
