Expert-Approved

"In the wild, both canines and felines eat grass. It’s a very strong instinct. But today, access to live grass is limited or non-existent for our indoor cats and many city-dwelling dogs. Providing greens brings a bit of nature to them and allows expression of this very normal behavior.

Our indoor pets instinctively crave a connection to nature, as well as the essential greens they would eat in the wild – cat grass provides both!

5 Top Tips

Live Cat Grass

Here's our 5 top tips for the care and feeding of your cat grass.

  • Water twice a week and provide good indirect light.

  • If your cat upchucks the grass, especially if the contents contain hair, it may not be a bad thing: your cat may simply be trying to expel a hairball. Vomiting can be a natural and necessary behavior in healthy cats and other animals.
Concerned about vomiting? Learn why it's not a bad thing!

  • Refrigerate when not in use to extend the life and freshness of your grass, which can last up to 4 weeks with proper care.
Lifespan will vary depending on your environmental conditions.

  • If white or gray mold appears, simply rinse the grass off under the tap and allow it to air dry. The mold is harmless and similar to what you would find on any organic produce.

  • Cat Grass is a healthy treat for your cat, intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only.
